Prof. Ronnie Belmans
M.Sc. degree in electrical engineering in 1979 from the KULeuven, Belgium; Ph.D. in electrical engineering in 1984 from the KULeuven, Belgium; Special Doctorate in 1989 from the KULeuven; Habilitierung in 1993 both from the RWTH, Aachen, Germany
Full professor with the K.U.Leuven, teaching electric power and energy systems, technical, economic and regulatory aspects. His research interests include techno-economic aspects of power systems, power system investments, both technically and economically and Smartgrids; guest professor at the EUI (European University Institute), the FSR (Florence School of Regulation) and at Imperial colleague in London, UK.
June 2002 – May 2010 chairman of the board of directors of ELIA, the Belgian transmission grid operator. Since June 2010 honorary Chairman of the board of directors of ELIA (www.elia.be ).
